A confrontation on a Hampton street escalated into gunfire on Wednesday, sending one individual to the hospital. Authorities are currently investigating the shooting, which they believe stemmed from a traffic dispute.

According to the Hampton Police Division, officers responded to reports of gunshots in the 800 block of North King Street shortly before 10 p.m. When they arrived, they located a victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The individual was transported to a local medical facility for treatment, where they are expected to recover.
