O.T. Genasis set to bring his unique style to MTV's The Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets

O.T. Genasis to Star in New Season of The Surreal Life on MTV

Multi-Platinum rapper and North Long Beach native O.T. Genasis is set to star in the newest season of The Surreal Life on MTV.

This will be the eighth season of The Surreal Life, a celebrity-centered reality show that made its debut back in January 2003. The series was revived in 2022 after a 16-year hiatus and has now found a new home at MTV.

The Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets was filmed in Colombia, with eight celebrities enduring what MTV described as “an outlandish, Surreal getaway.”

Support arts & culture coverage

Long Beach is home to a vibrant community of people who celebrate culture through art. Their stories deserve a platform.

“Each day these all-star guests will be surprised with provocative missions that push their limits, uncover their pasts and lead them to divulge their deepest truths,” read a press release. “Eight celebs, one villa… ALL will be revealed.”

O.T. Genasis is one of a handful of musicians on this season, joining Grammy-winning singer Macy Gray, singer and former Fifth Harmony member Ally Brooke, former Teen Wolf star and musician Tyler Posey, and actor/musician Chet Hanks, the son of actors Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson.

The remaining cast members are reality TV star Kim Zolciak from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, former Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir, and model/influencer Josie Canseco, the daughter of retired MLB star Jose Canseco. Interestingly enough, her father briefly played semi-pro baseball for the Long Beach Armada back in 2006, shortly after his admission to using steroids during his MLB career.

O.T. Genasis rose to fame in 2014 with his breakthrough single “CoCo”, which went 2x Platinum and peaked at No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He hit the chart again the following year with his next single “Cut It” featuring Young Dolph.

In the years since, O.T. has continued releasing music and touring the globe. He has also remained connected to his hometown and was even on the sidelines for last year’s big high school football game between Millikan and Long Beach Poly.

The Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets is set to premiere on Tuesday, July 23 on MTV.
