A family is facing serious felony allegations after authorities say they orchestrated a violent ambush to abduct a one-year-old child from the mother during a custody transfer. The incident, which authorities are calling a premeditated assault, resulted in multiple injuries.
The altercation occurred on a Tuesday afternoon in a public location. According to law enforcement reports, the child's father, along with his mother and father, met the child's mother for a scheduled custody exchange. Instead of a peaceful transfer, the meeting escalated into a physical attack.
Authorities allege the father initiated a struggle with the child's mother, attempting to pull the infant from her arms. The situation intensified when the paternal grandmother and grandfather joined the fray. The grandmother is accused of striking the victim in the head, while the grandfather allegedly used a taser on her.
Following the alleged assault, the father and his parents fled the scene with the child. Law enforcement officials immediately launched an investigation. The child was later located and found to be unharmed, and was subsequently returned to the mother's care.
All three adults involved were taken into custody. They now face a range of felony charges, including kidnapping, child endangerment, conspiracy, and assault with a deadly weapon. They are currently being held on significant bail amounts as the legal proceedings begin.
