A coordinated law enforcement operation in Yuba City resulted in a major drug seizure this week, including a quantity of the potent synthetic opioid fentanyl considered a potentially lethal dose for millions of people.
The operation, led by the Yuba-Sutter Narcotic and Gang Enforcement Task Force (NET-5), targeted a residence in the 800 block of Lindhurst Avenue. Authorities executed a search warrant based on an ongoing investigation into suspected narcotics sales at the location.
During the search, investigators uncovered a substantial cache of illegal drugs and related paraphernalia. The most significant find was approximately 4,000 suspected fentanyl pills. In addition to the fentanyl, agents confiscated:
One individual, identified as 36-year-old Yuba City resident Christopher Lavoie, was arrested at the scene. He was booked into the Sutter County Jail on multiple felony charges, including possession of controlled substances for sale and maintaining a residence for the purpose of drug sales.
The raid is part of a broader effort by local and state authorities to combat the distribution of fentanyl, which has been driving a surge in overdose deaths across the region and the nation.
