RECALL: Dehumidifiers can ignite

( WHTM) – – More than 1 million dehumidifiers are being recalled after 23 fires were reported.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recall affects 42 designs of dehumidifiers with the trademark name Kenmore, GE, SoleusAir, Norpole and Seabreeze. They were produced in between January 2011 and February 2014. Around 1,560,000 units are affected by the recall.

The CPSC states there have been 688 incidents of overheating and $168,000 in property damage linked to the dehumidifiers.

The brand name and pint capability are printed on the back, front or side of the model and the system number is on a sticker. The dehumidifiers are white, beige, black or gray plastic.
