A Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputy has been taken into custody and placed on administrative leave following an arrest for driving under the influence. The incident, which occurred over the weekend, has led to criminal charges being filed against the officer, identified as Deputy Ethan Hansen, a five-year veteran of the department.
Authorities confirmed Hansen was stopped by California Highway Patrol officers Saturday night after reports of a vehicle weaving on Highway 99. Field sobriety tests were administered, leading to the standard precautionary arrest and booking hours later.
The deputy’s arrest log has since triggered mandatory protocols to begin internal affairs assessment, as stated by the department in a midday general release.
