A coordinated smash-and-grab robbery at a high-end watch retailer on Chicago's famed Magnificent Mile has resulted in charges against six people. The group is accused of making off with luxury timepieces valued at approximately $170,000.
The incident unfolded in the afternoon when the suspects allegedly used a hammer to shatter a display case inside the store. Security footage shows the individuals quickly grabbing multiple high-value watches before fleeing the scene in a waiting vehicle. The entire event lasted only moments, stunning staff and shoppers.
Chicago Police Department officials credited rapid response and investigative work with the quick apprehension of the suspects. The six individuals, all from the Chicago area, were taken into custody shortly after the robbery. The stolen merchandise was successfully recovered by police.
Each of the six suspects now faces a felony charge of burglary. Court documents indicate the accused appeared for a preliminary hearing. Law enforcement sources suggest the investigation is ongoing to determine if the group is connected to other similar retail thefts in the region.
