COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD)-- The state is expected to rest its case Thursday in the Alex Murdaugh double-murder trial.
Murdaugh is accused of eliminating his other half Margaret and youngest kid Paul at their family residential or commercial property in June of 2021.

Judge Clifton Newman chose Wednesday to enable statement about Alex Murdaugh's botched suicide-for-hire effort in the trial.
Due to the fact that it did not have enough significance to this case, the choice to permit the statement came after Judge Newman previously ruled it would not be permitted. After questioning by the defense raised Curtis Eddie Smith, Judge Newman reversed the decision, stating the door had been opened.
Wednesday's witness statement came mainly from SLED agent David Owen, the lead investigator on the case. Prosecution introduced a new video of an August 11, 2021 interview with Murdaugh, the 3rd SLED interview carried out in the case.
