An up-and-coming musician, known professionally as D4VD, was taken into custody this week in connection with the death of a 14-year-old girl. The arrest, made by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, has sent shockwaves through both the local community and the online fanbase he cultivated through social media platforms.
Authorities state the investigation centers on the tragic death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The teenager was reported missing from her Jurupa Valley home on the evening of February 12. A search effort led to the grim discovery of her body in the nearby Santa Ana River bottom the following morning. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office has ruled her death a homicide.
Investigators have not publicly disclosed a motive or the specific circumstances leading to the arrest. The suspect, whose legal name is David Burke, gained attention for his music shared on platforms like TikTok. He is currently being held without bail at the Robert Presley Detention Center.
The case has left the Jurupa Valley community reeling. Friends and family of Celeste Rivas Hernandez have described her as a vibrant and beloved young girl. A memorial site near where she was found continues to grow as loved ones seek answers and justice.
“This is a devastating loss for our community,” a neighbor, who asked not to be named, told BNN. “Everyone is holding their families a little tighter right now. We just want the truth to come out.”
Burke is scheduled for an initial court appearance later this week. He faces one count of murder. The Riverside County District Attorney’s office will be reviewing the sheriff's department's investigation before formally filing charges.
Legal experts note that the case, given the ages of those involved and the suspect’s nascent public profile, is likely to attract significant attention. The sheriff’s department has stated the investigation remains active and ongoing.
