Bringing history to life' is the mission of the newly re-imagined Rowan County Veterans Museum in Morehead, Kentucky (BNN). The museum underwent a seven-month renovation project to create an experience that honors the brave men and women from Rowan County who have served in the U.S. military. From World War I to the War on Terror, visitors can travel back in time and learn firsthand accounts of what it was like to serve in these wars. Historian David Clinger and the museum staff were dedicated to accomplishing this mission, stating that the museum belongs to the community and all those who have served. The museum features a million-dollar collection of items, some of which are over 100 years old, making the preservation of this history even more important. It also serves as a way to educate and spark interest in the next generation about their family and community ties to the armed forces. The museum has permanent exhibits on each major American war and a rotating exhibit highlighting the U.S. Navy's ties to Morehead and Rowan County.
