The Anchorage Police Department is seeking the public's help following a shooting downtown early Sunday morning that resulted in one fatality and one individual sustaining serious injuries.
According to a statement released by the police, officers responded to the incident just after 2:30 a.m. in the vicinity of the 700 block of West 4th Avenue, near the police headquarters. Both victims were found with life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital, where one was later pronounced dead.
As of Monday, no suspects are being pursued in connection with the shooting, and no charges have been filed yet, stated police spokeswoman Renee Oistad. Limited information is currently available regarding the circumstances leading up to the shooting and the current condition of the surviving victim.
Authorities are urging any witnesses who have not yet come forward to contact them at 311 to assist with the ongoing investigation.
