Think wanted after roadway rage incident in Merriam ends with automobile window smashed


MERRIAM, Kan. - - Road rage in Johnson County results in a small crash, and then more roadway rage when a motorist utilizes a weapon to smash in the other car's window.

Right now there is a manhunt for this suspect. That suspect wanted on a felony charge.

The Merriam Police Department says they have seen a boost in unpredictable incidents on our streets.

" It is worrying, it's unfortunate that nowadays we have these things going on," Capt. Jeremiah Waters with the Merriam Police Department stated.

" It's really scary. It frightens me, it terrifies me at this moment," Christina Ramirez, a motorist and mother of 5 stated.

All of it started near 75th Street and I-35. That's where cops state some sort of roadway rage event resulted in a minor auto accident.

Then things took a swing in the incorrect direction, due to the fact that when cops got here.

" Located a victim vehicle that had a smashed-out window," Waters said.

The chauffeur of one of the automobiles involved got out, with what is thought to be a hammer, and smashed through a window, then they repelled.

"It's actually crucial to not to get into battles when you're in the middle of the roadway ... not beeping at people simply keep driving," Ramirez said.

Waters says they are seeing an increase of – – unneeded violence on our roads.

In just the last couple of months – – we've seen similar occurrences result in individuals passing away.

A roadway rage disagreement in Oak Grove simply off of I-70 resulted in the death of a 53-year-old man.

Another in a Northmoor shopping district, where a simple minor car accident, led to a male there being shot and eliminated.

"If you get agitated, if you get disturbed while you're driving-- we've all existed, we've all been upset, we've all had someone cut us off just think to yourself is this worth something triggering a problem for," Waters said.

This latest occurrence is being examined as aggravated battery which is a felony.

BNN asked Waters what you need to do if you discover yourself in a hostile circumstance.

"I encourage people to escape it. Drive to your local police station call 911 if you have a mobile phone lorry, strike your OnStar button," he said.

At last examine the suspect stays at large but Waters informed BNN with a 100% confidence that they will get this circumstance taken care of.
