Tragic Crash on I-25 Claims the Lives of Two Truck Drivers

New Mexico State Police have identified Adrian Alejandro Cruz from El Paso as one of the truck drivers involved in a fiery head-on collision on I-25 in Sierra County.

The incident occurred late Thursday night near mile marker 59, close to Truth or Consequences. Reports indicate that two semi-trucks collided in a devastating crash.

According to investigators, the driver of the first semi-truck, traveling north, struck an elk and veered into the southbound lanes, ultimately colliding with Cruz's semi-truck. The impact caused both vehicles to erupt in flames.

Tragically, both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator. The identity of the driver who hit the elk remains unknown, as authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
