Police in Montgomery County are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist on Thursday afternoon. The incident disrupted traffic in the Gaithersburg area for several hours.
Officers responded to reports of a collision at the intersection of Route 124 and Midcounty Highway shortly before 4 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a single motorcyclist with life-threatening injuries.
Emergency medical crews transported the individual to a nearby hospital, where the victim was pronounced dead less than an hour later. The motorcyclist has not been publicly identified pending formal notification of next of kin.
Investigators closed all westbound lanes of Goshen Road (Route 124) near the Woodfield intersection while reconstructing the crash. Drivers faced substantial delays in the area as crews worked at the scene untilapproximately 650 p.m.
