El Paso native Rosa Guerrero is not just an educator, but also a humanitarian and a vocal community activist. She believes in the importance of understanding and embracing our heritage, culture, and origins.
Guerrero vividly remembers the struggles she faced when she was reprimanded by her elementary school teachers for speaking Spanish in the classroom. This experience fueled her passion for encouraging Borderland students to stay connected to their roots at every stage of their education.
"You need to know where your parents and grandparents came from. Never feel ashamed of your culture, background, language, or traditions. I couldn't speak English when I started, but I learned. And I'm still learning. Embrace who you are," she emphasizes.
She also stresses the importance of listening to our grandparents and learning from their wisdom. Guerrero fondly describes grandmothers as the living encyclopedias of life lessons and experiences. She encourages everyone to cherish and record their conversations with their grandparents to preserve their invaluable knowledge and memories.
Join us on Good Morning El Paso this week as Rosa Guerrero shares more of her insightful wisdom and life lessons with our viewers.
