Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Representative Adam Schiff raised eyebrows on Wednesday when they publicly expressed doubts about President Biden's ability to win the upcoming presidential election.
Schumer reportedly advised Biden that it would be in the best interest of the country and the Democratic Party if he were to end his reelection bid. Meanwhile, Schiff went a step further, stating, "I believe it is time for him to pass the torch. And in doing so, secure his legacy of leadership by allowing us to defeat Donald Trump in the upcoming election."
Dr. Richard Pineda, Director of the Sam Donaldson Center for Communication Studies at UTEP, weighed in on the situation, suggesting that if President Biden were to step down from the race, the most straightforward solution would be for Vice President Kamala Harris to assume his position and choose a new vice president.
Dr. Pineda emphasized that the decision ultimately lies with President Biden, noting that whatever choice he makes will have a significant impact on the political landscape leading up to the convention.
