Motorcycle Accident Leaves Woman Hospitalized with Life-Threatening Injuries

A 25-year-old woman riding her 2024 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle is hospitalized after being ejected and sustaining multiple fractures in the La Jolla neighborhood of San Diego.

San Diego Police Department officers responded at 1:21 p.m. Friday to the 2600 block of Torrey Pines Road. The victim was driving north on Torrey Pines when she failed to negotiate a curve in the road, struck the center median, and was ejected from the motorcycle, according to Officer Jose Perales.

The woman was taken to a hospital with fractures to her legs, torso, and internal bleeding requiring emergency surgery. Her injuries are considered life-threatening, Perales stated.

Authorities confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the collision. Officers from the Traffic Division will handle the investigation. Anyone with information can contact 858-495-7800 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.

What do you think?

  • Should stricter measures be in place for motorcycle riders to prevent accidents like this?
  • Do you believe more awareness campaigns about motorcycle safety are needed?
  • Should there be more regulations on the types of motorcycles allowed on the road?
