SEATTLE (AP)-- A lady equipped with a handgun was apprehended after an hourlong standoff at the FBI structure in
Seattle on Wednesday, authorities stated.
The lady strolled into a publicly accessible location where individuals have to wait to be buzzed into the lobby, according to FBI spokesperson Steve Bernd.
She pointed the weapon at herself, the
Seattle Police Department stated in an emailed declaration. A hostage settlement team eventually convinced her to lay the weapon at her feet and surrender.
No hostages were taken and no one was injured, authorities said.
The female's identity was not right away released.
" We are continuing to examine her intentions, and no charging decisions have actually been made yet," the FBI stated in an emailed statement.
The FBI has reported an uptick in the number of threats against bureau personnel and facilities in the last couple of years. A male armed with an AR-15 rifle and a nail gun tried to breach the FBI's
Cincinnati field office in 2022 and was eliminated hours later after a standoff with authorities.
And in August, a male rammed a barrier at an FBI workplace in Atlanta and then tried to follow an FBI staff member into the safe and secure car park on foot.
