Before any weightlifter at the Olympics can even attempt a lift, there's a crucial task that must be completed: ensuring that the bar weighs exactly what it is supposed to. This is where the loaders come in, and their role is as vital as it is overlooked. Similar to a pit crew changing tires in auto racing, these loaders have to swiftly add and remove discs to adjust the weight on the bar, allowing the competition to proceed seamlessly.
At the Paris Games, a team of 14 loaders has been assembled, consisting of seven men's and seven women's junior weightlifters from various regions of France. Despite their young age and relative inexperience, these loaders are determined to execute their duties flawlessly in their Olympic debut, just like the athletes they are supporting.
