California 9-year-old attempted to drive to school, crashed into patrol vehicle, CHP says

(FOX40.COM)-- Calling it a "scene straight out of a motion picture," the California Highway Patrol stated a 9-year-old young boy took his household's car and tried to drive himself to school, crashing into a patrol lorry on the way.

The CHP office for the Oroville location stated that an officer first came across the cars and truck in northwest Oroville when it was stopped in the middle of an intersection on Wednesday morning.

When the officer advised the chauffeur to move the vehicle, the automobile sped off, leading to a "brief and unpredictable chase that ended in a dirt car park" about two blocks away and across the street from a grade school, the CHP said.

After stopping, the car reversed and rammed the CHP patrol car "in a minute that might have caused a severe outcome," the company included.

The officer then found out that the motorist was a 9-year-old kid who was attempting to drive himself to school.

The young boy was taken to school after other authorities looked out. The CHP stated that the two lorries had minor damages and no people were injured.

The CHP said the circumstance served as a reminder of the duties of drivers and the need to talk with kids about the risks of unapproved driving.
