Generous Commerce City mommy now requires assistance after ravaging fire


COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (BNN)-- A Commerce City mom, known in her neighborhood for assisting others, is now in dire need of assistance for her household after their house caught on fire previously this month.

Four walls and countless memories were decreased to ashes for the Roy household. Rena Roy still does not know how a fire began in broad daytime on a Saturday afternoon, damaging everything at her home.

" It's really hard, how we lost whatever-- my relative's remains and photos and simply all the memories of my kids," Roy stated. "This is all my kids have understood is this house."

Roy is a mom to her kids, but she's likewise a mother figure to those in her community who need support.

" There's at least been 50 people that I've opened my door to, and so it's actually difficult to ask and go for assistance or anything, since I'm used to being the one providing," Roy stated. "But I understand with the scenarios that my kids are going through right now, it's-- it's what I need to do."

The South Adams County Fire Department stated a family is safe however numerous pets died in a house fire in Commerce City. (South Adams County Fire Department).

Roy currently has eight in her home. Her 11-year-old boy, the youngest, welcomed her throughout her FOX31 interview, asking if his mama was OK. They were both not able to put on shoes before escaping the flames.

" It occurred so quickly that, you know, my kids were over there scrambling to get each other and try to conserve their own family pets, and they weren't even able to get all their family pets out," Roy stated.

Roy stated their kittycats and pet Bear did not make it out of the fire alive.

" Bear, he was more of like my boy's assistance animal given that my child has, you understand, his unique requirements," she stated. "My primary objective is to get all my kids together, due to the fact that once I have everybody together, then that's whenever the recovery procedure begins, and we could take care of each other and attempt to reconstruct our lives.".

Family buddies made a GoFundMe to help the household get through this attempting time.
